GLENDALE’S HOPE HELPS TO PROVIDE HOPE FOR HAITI AT CHOCOLATE AFFAIR
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Glendale Firefighters volunteered their time over the weekend to sell “Glendale’s Hope” chocolate bars to raise money for local Glendale Firefighter Charities and Haiti relief at the 15th Annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire.
“This was an excellent opportunity to help people who need a hand both locally and in Haiti. The generosity of the community made it a success. We were just happy to be a part of it,” said John Holland, Glendale Fire Captain and Local 493 Chapter Vice President. “We thank the Cerreta Candy Company in Glendale for helping us with this important endeavor,” Captain Holland continued.
Glendale Firefighters raised a grand total of $5,626 by selling chocolate bars using the Willy Wonka golden ticket theme. One hundred candy bars had a golden ticket which could be redeemed for a prize. Some prizes included hotel accommodations, gift certificates, lunches and other prizes. All prizes were donated. The grand prize winner will be Chocolatier for the day at the Ceretta Candy Company in Glendale at a date of the winner’s choosing.
Donations can still be made at any Wells Fargo Bank using the account titled “Glendale’s Hope for Haiti”, account number 760-559-3214.
